I got to know a IT Professor in Beijing Insititute of Technology in Zhuhai 北京理工大学珠海学院. Followed his instructions, I took a bus (S$7) from Zhenshen to the University and stayed in the campus for 2 nights.
This is only 30 minutes train ride from Beijing to Tainjin but I decided to take the coach instead. Normally the travelling time for the coach is about 2 hours but on that day, due to an accident on the highway, I took 5 hours to reach Tainjin.
I only stayed in Tainjin for about 4 hours wondering around the shopping area, riverside and train station. Maybe I should visit Tainjin again on my next trip to Beijing and this time I will stay there for at least 2 days.
The hotels in Zhenshen are rather cheap, as compared to Singapore and Hong Kong. You could get a double-bed room in a 4 star hotel for about S$30. If you like massage, spa or healthcare centres, there are many in Shenzhen. East Gate is a good place for you to get cheap goods but be careful of the pickpockets. It is very easy to visit the attractions by taking the train.
There is an old Chinese saying: “Above there is heaven, below there is Hangzhou” 上有天堂,下有杭州
Hangzhou’s reputation as heaven is largely down to the West Lake (西湖). I was in Hangzhou for 3 days and this is very short time for me to enjoy the heaven on earth. Moreover I stayed in the Xiaoshan district (萧山区) which is about an hour bus ride to the west lake. So, Heaven please wait for me to visit you again in my next trip.
From Shanghai Hongqiao railway station I took the train to Suzhou. It is just 2 stops and the journey is about 30 minutes. The ticket costs S$8.
Suzhou is known as the Eastern Venice (Water City of the East). There is no train service in the city and people have to take the buses and occasionally the boats. The bus fare is 20 cents per trip. I have no problem traveling alone in Suzhou as I am able to read the signs and take the buses to those places I wanted to visit. I stayed 3 days and 2 nights in Suzhou but I do not mind visiting the place again as it is really worth visiting twice.
