Ipoh 怡保

I took the coach from the Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) in Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh for about S$8. The bus stopped at the Amanjaya bus terminal which is far from the city. From the bus terminal I could take Grab, which is about S$4.50, to the hostel where I have booked online but I did not. Instead, I waited for local shuttle bus to take me to the city and take another local bus to the hostel.

I stayed in The Beds in Garden Hostel which is run by a few young people. The place is clean and tidy and the people are friendly and helpful. There is a kitchen where you can bring your own food and cook your own meal. There is a self-service coin operated laundry shop next to the hostel. I had a nice stay in the hostel.

Johor Bahru 柔佛州新山

People say that Johor is all about food and shopping. There is no much attractions for the tourists. I started my journey on the discovery of Johor Bahru by taking bus 950 from Woodlands interchange. I had to queue for about 3 hours to pass through the Johor Immigration and Customs which I think this is normal. The City Square and KSL City are the two popular places people will visit. I started my exploration from there.

The Kam Long Ah Zai Curry Fish Head (亚福街金龙阿仔咖喱鱼头) located at Jalan Wong Ah Fook is a must try because the queue is always long (long queue means good food?). There are also many other good and cheap food worth trying. Just look for the long queue and you wouldn’t be wrong.

Besides food, I also discovered some historical and cultural places worth the visit. Follow the arrow and you will be right to the destination.

The impressive street arts in Johor worth a stop for you to admire.

When the night falls, there is another side of beauty in Johor.

If you have the time, you could take the public bus T41 from the Larkin Sentral to the Leogoland theme park for an awesome moment of memories.

You could also take the public bus T21 from JB Sentral to the Mid Valley Shopping Mall to have a day of shopping and eating experience.

Mt Emei

Tibet 西藏

Xi’an 西安

Xian 西安 is a big city and I think we have to stay for at least a week to see all the attractions. This is the home to the Zhou 周 , Qin 秦 , Han 漢 and Tang 唐 dynasties’ ruling houses. Glad that I could visit this place.

Angkor Wah 吴哥窟

This is one of the well-preserved wonders of the world. The word “Wat” as in Thai means temple and “Angkor” means city. This Temple City is a must visit if you are in Cambodia. The place is rather big and far from the city. I will advise that you join in a tour group than to visit the place on your own. In this case you will be more appreciated of what you are seeing as the guide will explain to you the touching history. This makes your money worth.

There is only one central place to get the entrance ticket as they need to take your photo and paste it onto the entrance pass which is not transferable. You will need at least 2 days to see a significant part of the place. I got a 3-day pass (US$62) but I only booked a 2-day tour (US$28) from the hotel. I could visit the place on the 3rd day with the tuk tuk but I didn’t.
