The Farm
Matt is a lawyer by profession and a farmer during the weekends. When I was in Perth, I stayed in his place for 2 nights which is about 10 minutes walk from Shenton Park train station. When I was in his house, I met up with this Italian lady who was staying there a day earlier than me. The next afternoon, the three of us went up to Matt’s parent’s fruit farm which is on top of the mountain. We had a party of about 30 people from different parts of the world during the night.
There is a farm house on top of the mounation, some of us slept in the house and some slep outside under the midnight stars. The next day I moved to stay in the city with Ramon.
Launceston 朗切斯顿
When I was in Launceston, I was thinking of visiting Devonport but later I found that there isn’t any train operating within the island and there are only 2 bus trips travelling from Hobart to Launceston and continue to Devonport each day.
I further read from the Internet that I could take the ferry (known as the Spirit of Tasmania) from Devonport to Melbourne. The fare for the ferry is almost the same as the price for the air ticket. The ferry has to sail for 12 hours to reach the shore while the aircraft just fly for about an hour to reach the airport. I wanted to experience the sailing but after reading about the horror stories from the Internet, I was a bit worry about the rough sea. After much considerations, I decided not to visit Devonport and approached Tiger Airways again to flight directly from Launceston to Melbourne.
Hobart 霍巴特
While I was in Hobart, I took a bus and went to the city for a walk. Orchard road is much more crowded than this place. There was nothing much for me to do in this quiet place, so I just walked around and took some pictures. I passed by the University of Tasmania, Churches, Gardens and Parks. I met up with this half drunken man in the park and had 2 rounds of chess with him. I won the first round and lost the second.
I went to the harbour, passed by the museum and police station. Travelling alone is a good experience. You can walk to anywhere you think there is a road that will lead you to some interesting places. The Battery Point is a historic place in Hobart and I was the only historian there during my visit. The well known Salamanca Place was almost empty. Maybe it was a weekday.
I stayed in the SandyBay with 2 boys, a dog and the grandfather. This place is a bit out of the town but I think it is okay as the town is also as quiet as here. My contact is doing part-time community work and on one occasion I followed him to a few beaches to check on the toilets for vandalism. Interesting job.

Adelaide 阿德莱德
In Adelaide, I stayed in the Backpacker for 3 days. I walked around the city, passed by the famous University of Adelaide, went to Chinatown and had a bowl of noodle soup and took the public bus to Glenelg, which is the beach area.
Brisbane 布里斯班
There was not much happening in Brisbane even it was the Christmas season. I went to Chinatown and saw less than 20 people there; it could be because that was during office hours. The movable market in the carpark was quite interesting. There is a Casino but I did not get in because of my dress code. Yes! there is a city beach in Brisbane.
Melbourne 墨尔本
While I was resting on the bench along the Yarra River in a lazy afternoon, this Greece man from Athens approached me. He said he was doing a survey and asked whether I could answer some questions. I agreed to his request.
He started by talking about Robert Kiyosaki’s Rich Dad, Poor Dad and I told him I have read that book. After talking for a while, I realized that he was trying to persuade me to get into some sort of pyramids investment. I have read about this type of investment in Singapore before. It goes something like this – when a person invested $1,000 and he will get 5% interest provided that he introduces another 10 people to invest $1,000 each. These 10 people will have to further each get another 10 people to invest.
I told this Greece man that this type of investment is illegal in Singapore. He asked for my contact number in Singapore and said he will get someone from Network 21 will contact me when I am back in Singapore. I did a search in the Internet and found that there is in fact such an institution known as Network 21 that trains people to be their own boss. But I am not interested in this.
I continued with my sightseeing in this second largest city in Australia. I think I need at least 2 days to tour the whole city. If I am to visit the museums, art galleries and other tourist attractions, I will need another 2 more days.
I went to the Queen Victoria Market and found that it is very interested. I bought 5 tomatoes for 50 cents and 3 big bananas for $1.45. I ate them for lunch. This market is one of the places you will have to visit if you are coming to Melbourne.
Perth 珀斯
I flew with the Singapore Airlines and arrived in Perth for the first stop of the travel.
I approached the Police officer and asked for the direction to the beach.
I walked the whole day till the sunset
I was lucky to watch the celebration of the Australia Day in Perth in the late afternoon.
Fireworks to end the celebration
